Darlington Parent Carer Forum is working in partnership with the Darlington Mental Health Support Team to deliver mental health support sessions to parents/carers of children within primary and secondary schools in Darlington.
This project aims to improve the resilience, confidence, skills and knowledge of parents and carers. In doing so, helping them to meet the needs of their child, as well as empowering them to meet their own emotional needs as a parent carer. These sessions are tailored to include but not limited to wellbeing workshops to build self-esteem/resilience, listening sessions so parents and carers have the opportunity to off-load in a safe space and receive practical advice and signposting to other appropriate services. The Forum can also link between feeder schools to prompt transition conversations at the earliest opportunity, to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety for parents and carers.
